Engaging the public through an arts ministry

THE NEED
Chuch voices are not heard out there.

CHURCHES I CAN HELP
Stuck, stagnant or at a crossroads?

THE PROCESS
A blueprint for engaging.
HAS IT DAWNED ON YOUR CHURCH YET THAT . . . ?
The diversity we seek is probably not coming…
…we drive people away the more we try to attract them.
Churches will not achieve greater visibility in the community…
….because we are stuck in our pockets of private religion.
The children’s sermons may amuse, but they do not satisfy…
…because we offer family atmospherics when the public wants spiritual stimulation.
Bible study for faith development is futile…
…because we still employ standard classroom pedagogy.
Church life is just too much work to be worth it…
…because the time members spend in management meetings drains them.
Our members are strangers to each other but don’t know it…
…and those who do drift away (they are the “dones”).
Here is what I can do for you about it…
…I can show you how to activate your church’s faith through the arts.

College & University Chaplains need to Go Public, too!
Let’s just remember that we got into our present fix—the private breadbox, as I think of it—when college chaplains withdrew from the public arena. Reclaiming a public place on campus fulfills the very purpose that chaplains are ordained for. College chaplains—go public!
